There's no doubting it, 2017 will be the year for Irish actress Ruth Negga. The Limerick star is well-known to Irish audiences for her roles in Love/Hate, Love is the Drug and Breakfast on Pluto, but she has been making waves stateside the last few years, and with her Oscar contender movie 'Loving' about to be released in cinemas next month, it looks like the sky is fast becoming the limit for this leading lady.
Not only is she tipped to get an Oscar nomination for her role in the film, but she has now also landed a much coveted BAFTA Rising Star nominee.
The nominations were revealed this morning, with Negga's fellow nominees including Laia Costa, Tom Holland, Lucas Hedges and Anya Taylor-Joy.
The award is voted for by the public and will be announced at next month's 70th British Academy Film Awards.
Last year's winner was Star Wars actor John Boyega, with previous winners including Jack O'Connell, Tom Hardy, Eva Green and James McAvoy.
The full list of BAFTA nominations will be announced next Tuesday (January 10th), while the awards, which will be hosted by Stephen Fry once more, will take place on February 12th.
