The very talented Mark Ruffalo will make his directing debut with Sympathy for Delicious. The film will star Ruffalo, James Franco and Chris Thornton, and centre on a paralyzed DJ (played by Thorton) who has faith healing abilities to aid the sick and needy, but not himself - which is a bit of a slap in the face from the big man upstairs. Ruffalo plays a Jesuit priest who tries to help him come to terms with the limits of his gift, and Franco a rock singer in a band that exploits the suddenly famous healer. Thorton wrote the script as well, as is actually confined to a wheelchair in real life. The actor has appeared in the recent Pretty Persuasion as well as an episode of My Name Is Earl
