If he cuts, he cuts.
As time-capsule movies go, 'Rocky IV' is up there with the best of them for being a movie so fully of its time.
Originally released in 1985 during the final years of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the US, 'Rocky IV' introduced the world to Dolph Lundgren's character, Ivan Drago, and the belief that muscle-bound communists could eventually turn to capitalism if you punched them hard enough in the face.
Even back then with all of the cocaine that was going around, critics and audiences knew that 'Rocky IV' was something of a fairytale that had little bearing on reality. Yet, for all of that, it's still a favourite and it's probably why Stallone has confirmed that he's working on a director's cut of the movie - 35 years after its release.
Stallone confirmed the news on his Instagram, where he was talking up the release of the extended cut of 'Rambo: Last Blood'.
As to what scenes were cut or what will be different is anyone's guess. There were a number of deleted scenes, including one that explained how and why the fight took place in the Soviet Union as the US Boxing Board wouldn't sanction the fight. Beyond that, however, maybe it's a few more minutes of Rocky sawing stuff while Drago works out in the most '80s gym ever dreamed of?
