Sony have acquired rights to remake the U.K. miniseries Red Riding, which was recently shown on Channel 4, and are negotiating with Oscar winning scribe Steve Zaillian to write the script and Ridley Scott to direct, according to Variety. The dark mini-series was based around police corruption during separate investigations into the disappearance of several young women spanning three decades, and was a big critical success for the channel. Scott is currently putting the finishing touches to Nottingham with Russell Crowe, and has also committed to directing another Alien film. Personally, I'd love to see Scott return to that universe once more, but Red Riding, which will be transferred to an American setting, would also make a cracking production.
