Will Ricky Gervais host the 2014 Oscars? He'd sure like to. Though whether the snooty poles-up-their-arses movie stars could handle Gervais acidic tongue, we're not so sure. Don't forget, the Academy Awards is an entirely different beast when compared with the far more laid back Golden Globes.
Speaking to GoldDerby.com, the controversial comedian said: "Whatever you think of those sort of things, it would be a thrill and an honour to be asked. On the other hand I doubt the job offer would come without some strings attached. The worst string being, handing in my credentials as a comedian in favour of a family entertainer. We have to be able to poke fun at society without favouring any part of it because we are beholden to someone. It's a fine line between feeling like you've sold your soul and feeling like you're ruining someone's party. It would be very temping though, I must admit."
From the comfort of our own couches, this is something we'd relish. Imagine the damage he could do to all those egos? Of course his own ego could probably rival those of the biggest movers and shakers in Hollywood but still, nothing beats a good jaw-dropper and Lord knows Gervais can deliver.
