To be fair to Rian Johnson, he directed the film so if he's telling you to stay away, it may be best to heed him.
Johnson has been open about how he'd prefer it if fans came into The Last Jedi clean and without any notion of what's happening, even going so far as to say that if he had his way, there'd be no trailers for the film at all. The thing with Star Wars is that it pretty much sells itself and fans - either casual or hardcore - will work themselves into a lather over the slightest whiff of new footage or the like.
I a legitimately torn. If you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it.
But it’s gooooood..... https://t.co/Y29K5yz8i4

The film has that much power over people, you'll have people breaking it down frame by frame just to see if there was something they missed or didn't pick up on.
Coincidentally, our own trailer analysis will be up shortly after the trailer goes live.
