It a bit of sequel news you can firmly place under ‘Random’, Robin Williams and director Chris Columbus are working on a follow up to their early 90s hit, Mrs Doubtfire.
According to Variety, Williams and Columbus were both excited by the script written by Elf scribe, David Berenbaum. See that strikes us as a good thing; someone from Elf is involved. Buuuuut, Jon Favreau and Will Ferrell are both known for their improvisational skills - so it’s hard to tell how much of the actual script made it into the final, brilliant, film.
Columbus is responsible for a lot of classics (scripted Gremlins and The Goonies) but his directing skills seem far more suited to kiddie aimed fare (early Harry Potter flicks, Home Alone).
Williams also isn’t the star he was when this film came around the first time, but these type of broad family flicks generally do well at the box office - especially with a recognisable title.
Hey, maybe they'll make it into a horror flick instead?
