Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince made an absolute mint at the box-office this passing week, as it went day and date all over the globe. The sixth Potter film had a huge $160 million five day launch in America, and racked up a further stunning $237 million from other cinemas internationally. That leaves it a couple of million short of breaking $400 million, after only a few days of release. Most studios ran in fear of Potter, but romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer proved a big draw on limited release, at it managed to crack the top 12 on only 27 screens. The film starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel was a big hit at Sundance, and has been garnering buzz ever since.
