On this week's Insider podcast, we talked to Birch Hamilton of Screen Directors Guild of Ireland.
As well as being a director herself, Birch is also the Exeuctive Director of SDGI. The organisation, set up in 2000, acts as a champion for Irish directors both home and abroad. Birch talked about her work with SDGI, how Ireland's community of directors is currently faring and a number of other issues as well.
The SDGI represents many well-known Irish directors, including Jim Sheridan, Gary Shore, Ken Wardrop, Anna Rodgers, Tomm Moore, John Moore, Terry McMahon as well as emerging talent.
We talked to Birch about the SDGI's role in the Irish film industry, how the Irish film industry is changing, how Irish films are becoming real players on the international market and how Irish directors are shaping some of the best television shows and films out today.
