Patty Jenkins posted a statement on Twitter regarding "inaccuracies" in the media

With all the rumour and upset on the internet after it appeared that DC had cancelled 'Wonder Woman 3', director Patty Jenkins has released a statement on social media to clarify the situation.

After the news broke that 'Wonder Woman 3' wasn't included in the multi-year plan for the newly formed DC Studios, rumours have been flying around the internet as to why, with a typical amount of them baseless and complete guesswork at best.

Not taking it lying down, Patty Jenkins released a statement addressing the news, while also offering an update on her involvement with 'Rogue Squadron' for Disney.

"When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me who killed it or walked away started to spread," Jenkins wrote. "This simply is not true. I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now."

She also then went on to thank original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter, current Wonder Woman Gal Gadot, all the fans of the character and the character herself, saying that "living in and around her values" made her a better person.

James Gunn, now at the helm of whatever DC Studios and Warner Bros. decide to do next with the franchise, also supported Jenkins, replying to her tweet saying: "I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional."

As for 'Rogue Squadron', Jenkins said: "I originally left Rogue Squadron after a long and productive development process when it became clear it couldn't happen soon enough and I did not want to delay WW3 any further. When I did, Lucasfilm asked me to consider coming back to RS after WW3, which I was honored to do, so I agreed. They made a new deal with me. In fact, I am still on it and that project has been in active development ever since. I don't know if it will happen or not. We never do until the development process is complete, but I look forward to its potential ahead."

What's next for Jenkins and 'Wonder Woman 3' is anyone's guess, but that statement does have a ring of finality to it, right?
