Despite the drama on the ceremony stage, this year's Oscar wins went largely as predicted.
Although this year's ceremony will go down in history as the one that featured Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on stage for a joke about his wife's hairdo, the wins for this year's Oscars wins went largely to script and as predicted by most observers.
'CODA' picked up Best Picture, securing Apple the first win of a streaming service in the category of Best Picture, while 'Dune' picked up the largest amount of Oscars of the night with six. As to the whole thing with Will Smith, we'll cover that in a separate piece because HOLY JESUS DO WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THAT PROPERLY.
To the acting categories, Jessica Chastain and Will Smith (!) picked up gongs in their respective categories, while Ariana DeBose from 'West Side Story' and Troy Kotsur from 'CODA' picked up gongs in the supporting categories. Further afield, Kenneth Branagh picked up his Oscar for Best Original Screenplay while 'Drive My Car' won its Oscar for Best International Feature.
