Before it was a TV show in the 1960s and later a series of hit films in the 1990s with the likes of Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston, 'The Addams Family' began life as a series of single-panel cartoons created by Charles Addams, which first debuted in The New Yorker in 1938.
Now, the story of the creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky family is returning to its origins and being updated for a new animated film version with an all-star cast.
The story of Gomez and Morticia Addams and their kids Wednesday and Pugsley - as well as Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt, Lurch and Thing, of course - was previously adapted into an animated series in 1973, but the new film version will see Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron provide the voices of the aforementioned parents.
Chloe Grace Moretz will take on Wednesday, while 'Stranger Things' star Finn Wolfhard will voice Pugsley. Other stars confirmed for the film include Bette Midler (Grandmama), Nick Kroll (Uncle Fester) and Alison Janney (as Margaux Needler, the constant thorn in the side of the family).
Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan will co-direct, while it's believed that Matt Lieberman's screenplay will be based on Addams's original cartoon series.
It's set to open in the States in October 2019 - just in time for Halloween.
