Olivia Colman looked genuinely shell-shocked picking up the Oscar for Best Actress.
In a night that was filled with upsets, Olivia Colman winning Best Actress was one of the most enjoyable and heart-warming.
By all accounts, Glenn Close was expected to win Best Actress having scooped the prize at the Independent Spirit Awards, the Golden Globes, and the SAG Awards. However, it was Colman and her performance as Queen Anne in 'The Favourite' that won out.
Looking truly shell-shocked as she made her way to the stage, Colman announced that it was "genuinely quite stressful", before she thanked her co-stars Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone, director Yorgos Lanthimos, and talked about being a cleaner. "I used to work as a cleaner, and I loved that job! But, I did spend a lot of time imagining this," Colman gasped.
Fighting back tears, she went to thank her husband of 18 years, Ed Sinclair, and her three children who she said "are at home and watching, well if you're not, well, kind of, done but I sort of hope you are... this isn't going to happen again!"
Here's the speech in full.
