Mission Impossible 3 co-scripter Wesley Strick will write the new version of A Nightmare on Elm Street that is currently being developed by New Line. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddie Krueger himself. The plan is to have a dark tone (well, duh). The company hopes to have the movie ready for the 25th anniversary of the original, which was released to huge financial success in 1984. There is still no word on a director, but whoever takes the helm has their work cut out for them - it’s still a classic two decades later.
