Neve Campbell has officially signed on for Scream 4. The actress will return as the much put-upon Sydney Prescott, in a third sequel to the hugely popular slasher franchise, joining Courteney Cox and David Arquette, who had already climbed aboard. Series originator Kevin Williamson penned a script on spec for the new film, which Dimension loved. They are currently wooing the legendary Wes Craven to come back to helm. Craven currently has a deal at Rogue Pictures, a genre arm of Universal, and has just written and directed a film for them called, 25/8 - which looks like it could be a corker. When asked by Digital Spy a few months back if he'd consider returning to the franchise, Craven said: "I'm not closed to it, I'm not open to it, I'll be perfectly happy to read a script and tell Bob (Weinstein) what I think." Craven last worked with The Weinstein brothers on Cursed, the werewolf movie that was supposed to be Scream with excessive bodily hair. But when the brothers grim continually intervened, the film had to endure multiple reshoots, and suffered greatly as a result. Scream is one of my favourite movies and I still think it holds up well 13 years later - but if Craven doesn't come back I don't wanna see it.
