Stephen Sommers is to helm a new live action version of Tarzan for Oceans 11 producer Jerry Weintraub, after Guillermo del Toro pulled out to direct The Hobbit. Sommers is best known for directing the first two Mummy features, but also called the shots on the awful Van Helsing. It's taken him a few years to get over that clusterf**k, and he's currently heavily into post production on GI Joe, which actually looks like it could be a lot of fun. We're not sure if this Tarzan is going to be set in the past or present; but one thing is for sure, half the leading men in Hollywood just signed up for extra body sculpting classes.
