Carey Mulligan and Leonardo DiCaprio will both star in a new adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann will turn the epic up to 11 again, as he takes on the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. According to Deadline.com, Mulligan recently shot an audition tape, and Luhrmann just had to convince the Sony executives that she would be a good choice for Daisy Buchanan. DiCaprio will play Jay Gatsby, while real life buddy Tobey Maguire will play friend and narrator, Nick Carraway.

After Australia pretty much put the skids on Nicole Kidman as a leading lady (after a few other flops in fairness) Luhrmann will be hoping the stars align to make this one garner some awards recognition.
