It’s obviously a very stupid awards bash (Zak Efron for Christ sake!?), but it was good to see Ellen Page and Will Smith pick up gongs. Adam Sandler was given a special MTV Generation Award, and gave a typically amusing acceptance speech; but Johnny Depp picking up best comedic performance ahead of Seth Rogen made no sense. Still, the public voted on them, so complain we can’t.
