Fame director Kevin Tancharoen's innovative work on the digital shorts has convinced Warner Bros. to hire him to direct a reboot of the "Mortal Kombat" film franchise reports Heat Vision.

Tancharoen initially directed a web short off of his own back, casting the likes of Michael Jai White in major roles, and the studio wanted to put a stop to it. When they saw the good work Tancharoen did, they instead financed him to direct a series of shorts titled Mortal Kombat: Legacy, which have been strong online hits. So no we're getting another movie. Paul WS Anderson made his Hollywood debut with the original Mortal Kombat which was good craic.

Plot details are being kept under wraps and it's not clear if any of the main cast will carry over to the big screen movie. Well done to Tancharoen, though, showed serious determination to get that film made.
