Oscar Winning filmmaker Michael Moore will be coming to Dublin next week for a special IFTA screening and discussion of his new film, Where to Invade Next.
Moore, who is widely considered one of the most successful documentary makers of all time, will be participating in the Academy discussion of his film in the IFI on Monday the 13th of June.
He won an Oscar in 2002 for his feature documentary, Bowling for Columbine, which investigated gun control laws in America. The film made $58m at the worldwide box office which was unheard of for a documentary at that time.
His follow up, Faranheit 9/11 won the Palme D'Or at Cannes and made $222m at the worldwide box office. It is still the highest grossing documentary of all time.
His newest film, Where To Invade Next is his first film in six years. With the filmmaker’s trademark acerbic satirical viewpoint in tow, the film has Moore spending time in countries such as Tunisia, Finland, Italy, France, and Portugal where he experiences those countries' alternative methods of dealing with the social and economic ills experienced in the United States.
To celebrate let's remember that time he got a free gun for opening a bank account.
