Irish actor Michael Fassbender is looking likely to join Danny Boyle's new flick, Trance.

Boyle seems to be returning to his cinematic roots somewhat with the film, and commented that it would be on a similar budgetary scale as 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire (i.e. not that much) while taking the tone of his earlier effort Shallow Grave. The film is about an assistant in an art gallery who helps a gang steal a priceless painting, hides it, then whacks his head and gets amnesia. Fassbender would play the leader of the gang.

Boyle will apparently shoot the film towards the end of the year and then take a break to work on the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He'll then get to work on post-production on Trance.
