Yes, deepfake video technology is terrifying. But also, dream casting is a thing now.
Deepfake video technology is becoming more and more common nowadays, to the point where it's now only a matter of time before it's used in movies.
While 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' used it to bring the character of Governor Tarkin back to life, the technology is now freely and widely available online. So much so, in fact, that it feels like we're seeing new deepfake videos every other day online.
This latest video, from Sham00k, shows what Mel Gibson - the original Mad Max - would like in 2015's 'Mad Max: Fury Road'. The results really are freakishly good, to the point where if you didn't know Tom Hardy wasn't it, you'd have never guessed it was one.
That's how good the technology is now, and what's more, it's only getting better with each passing day.
Take a look.
