It’s been talked about for the last few years now, but as of this June, with a confirmation from Reese Witherspoon herself, ‘Legally Blonde 3’ is officially in the works.
It looks like Witherspoon’s former co-stars from the series would love to join Elle Woods for her third outing.
Matthew Davis, who played Elle’s ex-boyfriend Warner, is one such actor.
Upon being asked about the upcoming film on the red carpet at EW’s Comic-Con Bash this weekend, Davis said: “I’m thrilled, and I don’t know anything. I don’t know what’s going on but I tell people, they need to understand that without Warner, there is no ‘Legally Blonde.’
“Without Warner, Elle would have never gone to Harvard. She would have never had the motivation to go to Harvard. I am ‘Legally Blonde,’” he added jokingly.
“I would love to see where the writers think Warner is at this point,” he said. “I would love to see something where perhaps Warner is married to a politician, to a woman who’s running for office, and he’s sort of like a kept man. And her opponent is another candidate, and the person running the campaign is Elle Woods. So it’s Elle Woods driving this campaign against the wife of Warner.”
That could be a legit plot for the threequel.
Another star of the series who would like to come back is Regina King, who played Grace Rossiter in ‘Legally Blonde 2’, a congressional staffer who helps Elle get a bill on the House floor.
Since starring in the film, King has been busy directing television and acting, but she’d still make time to reprise her role in ‘Legally Blonde 3.’
“I freakin’ love Reese,” she said, “and if she asked me to come back, even if it was just for a scene, I would.”
