Andy and Lana Wachowski (formally the Wachowski Brothers) have been quiet since the release of Speed Racer - after the wannabe blockbuster opened softly and to fairly middling reviews. However, they appear to be coming back with a bang...
According to The Playlist, they'll next direct an adaptation of David Mitchell's novel Cloud Atlas, which will star Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and (the ridiculously gorgeous and talented) Natalie Portman. There are also rumours linking Scottish actor James McAvoy to the film that has been scripted by the man behind Run Lola Run, Tom Tykwer - who was also slated, until recently, to direct. The story is vast, spanning from the 1850's to the 21st century, and taking in numerous locations, through six linked storylines.
The Wachowski's may or may not co-direct with Tykwer. Their involvement has only recently been confirmed by Berry, who let it slip they were involved.
