Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man will be hitting the big screen on July 31st 2015 three month earlier than the previous November 6th release date. This new release date will see the man who can shrink to the size of an ant go head to head to head in the box office with the man of steal and the man who thinks he's a bat (Batman vs Superman).
Ant-Man will be the first installment in Marvel Studios’ ‘Phase Three’ and will follow Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is set of a launch in May 2015. Details on the movie are pretty scarce so far - there have been no casting announcements or any hints as to which incarnation of the hero will star in the movie.
What we do know is that Ant-Man will not appear in the second Avengers movie, where earth's mightiest will face off against Ultron - meaning the movie will not be faithful to its original comic book counterpart in so far as originally Ultron was created by Ant-Man Henry Pym.
Joss Whedon previously said: 'We’re doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He’s not. We’re basically taking the things from the comics for the movies that we need and can use. A lot of stuff has to fall by the wayside.'
Looks like we’re set for a busy superhero summer in 2015 bookmarked by Marvel heavy hitters with a Batman Vs. Superman filler completing the super-sandwich. Yum.
