Oh my, Jane Foster is looking hench

While we were stuffing our faces full of leftover chocolate yesterday, Marvel surprised us all by dropping a first-look teaser for this summer's big blockbuster.

The first 'Thor: Love And Thunder' trailer is here, and with it comes a lot of exciting tidbits of teases (and lots of questions); we've listed some of the biggest happenings below.

Just in case you missed the teaser being released to us puny Earthlings yesterday, here it is in all of its glory.

Director (and the voice of Korg) Taika Waititi also shared the first official poster for the upcoming action film, featuring a retro Thor holding Stormbreaker.

First things first, Thor is passing his old hammer Mjollnir (previously destroyed by Cate Blanchett's Hela in 'Ragnarok') onto the hands of Jane Foster. Yes, we got our first glimpse of Natalie Portman's return to the franchise, and it appears that the character has been dedicating hours of her time in the gym in order to be worthy of wielding the God's thunderous hammer.

There was also a brief appearance in the 'Thor: Love And Thunder' trailer by King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), who has taken up her spot on the Asgardian throne. Needless to say, fans on Twitter have been salivating over both of these characters returning to the series for more pivotal roles this time around.

Next, there's a new location which has people talking - could it be Olympus? Fans have rumoured that Thor's rival Hercules will make an appearance in the film, with the trailer teasing a very brief look at lightning bolt-wielding Zeus, played by Russell Crowe. Thor travelling to Mount Olympus could indicate that the MCU is going to be getting a whole host of Olympians on the scene.

The appearance of the crew from 'The Guardians Of The Galaxy' shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to fans, given that Thor and the Guardians were best friends by the end of 'Endgame'. We see Dave Bautista's Drax, Pom Klementieff's Mantis, Karen Gillen's Nebula, plus Rocket and Groot look into Chris Pratt's Star Lord's eyes while he attempts to deliver a touching moment.

Not only will there be the introduction of the Olympians, but it looks like we're getting some pirate action too, as there is one appearance in the trailer which has people very curious. Midway through, we see Thor embrace a swashbuckling pirate woman with blue hair who as of now still remains unidentified. There are lots of other boats featured in the trailer, so it's difficult to know if this could be a dream sequence or if it's genuinely happening to Thor.

It's important to note that this is just the first teaser trailer for the blockbuster, resulting in pretty much none of the new characters showing their faces on screen just yet. We'll have to wait a little bit longer until we get a proper look at Russell Crowe's Zeus and even a glimpse of Christian Bale's Gorr The God Butcher, or any of the expanded cast such as Matt Damon, Melissa McCarthy, Sam Neill, Jamie Alexander or Luke Hemsworth.

'Thor: Love And Thunder' will be released in theatres on July 8, 2022.
