Is Superman swapping over to Marvel?
Take this news with a pinch of salt - but don't be too surprised if all 7 faces join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios has reportedly cast a fresh batch of actors for Phase 5 - and if it's true, then a number of huge names are going to be suiting up for action blockbusters in the near future.
Now, some have been rumoured for quite some time, while others are surprising inclusions. The two most obvious ones on the list are John Krasinski (who appeared in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' as Mister Fantastic) and Giancarlo Esposito (who was tipped to be playing Professor X in Marvel Studios' 'X-Men' reboot). However, the five other names are pretty surprising.
They are: Henry Cavill (former Superman and current Witcher), Jodie Comer (formerly Villanelle from 'Killing Eve'), John Boyega (former Star Wars sequel series star), Daisy Edgar-Jones (from 'Normal People') and finally Denzel Washington (of countless '90s and '00s action movies, including 'Training Day').
According to this reliable source of Emmet Kennedy, the new Marvel Studios cast of Phase 5 will be revealed, if true, later this week at the D23 Expo 2022 on Friday. So - who could these newbies be playing? 'Fantastic Four' is the only upcoming Marvel property that doesn't have a cast list...
Well, let's take Krasinski and Esposito out of the equation for now, as for the moment they're stuck to some already-established characters (unless the latter turns out to be playing Doctor Doom, of course, which would totally slap).
The other Fantastic Four members will need to be found, so could Comer or Edgar-Jones be Sue Storm, Boyega as Johnny and Cavill as The Thing? Or is Washington lined up for the Doctor Doom role? It's all just speculation, so we'll have to wait and see if these names get revealed later this week.
