Although it seemed like he was one-and-done, it looks like Benedict Cumberbatch will be throwing on the red cape and gloves again for a 'Doctor Strange' sequel in the near future.
Marvel chief Kevin Feige made the comments during a recent interview with CinemaBlend, where the producer was asked about the future slate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fate of existing characters therein. "Sometimes it's where do those characters pop up? Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange, which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he's a very big part of Infinity War," Feige explained.
"So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things."
Strange joins a small cohort of Marvel characters that are confirmed to have sequels after 'Infinity War', which include Black Panther, Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Iron Man and Captain America are both understood to have run their course with the fourth Avengers movie likely being the last time we'll see either of them on screen for quite some time.
So, the question now is, does anyone actually want a sequel to 'Doctor Strange' and will Benedict Cumberbatch still be up for it?
