As it's been said many times before - by us, and a few others - most comic-book movies work when they're fitted inside of a genre.
The Dark Knight was Michael Mann-esque crime, Captain America: The Winter Soldier was borrowing from conspiracy thriller, Spider-Man: Homecoming was a John Hughes teen comedy, and the first Ant-Man was a caper comedy. So it goes that Ant-Man And The Wasp will, according to Marvel themselves, be the franchise's first romantic comedy.
That's according to Kinometro, who saw a promo video for Ant-Man And The Wasp at a Disney presentation in Russia earlier this week with Disney's local rep introducing it as such. It makes a lot of sense, considering that both Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly have good chemistry together, have both starred in romantic comedies themselves. What's more, Ant-Man And The Wasp's director Peyton Reed has plenty of experience in that genre too.
Considering that Thor Ragnarok won huge praise for the fact that it didn't take itself all that seriously and won critical and commercial success on the basis of this, it makes sense for Marvel to trying something different with Ant-Man as well.
Ant-Man And The Wasp lands in Irish cinemas on June 29th, 2018.
