It's hard to believe that 'Boogie Nights' is twenty years old this year, but Paul Thomas Anderson's acclaimed film about the '70s porn industry still stands up to this day.
One person who doesn't look back on it with a particular fondness, however, is its star, Mark Wahlberg.
Wahlberg famously played a young dishwasher in a nightclub who becomes a porn star by the name of Dirk Diggler - and in a new interview, he said that he hopes God can forgive him for the role. Wahlberg is a devoted Catholic and was appearing alongside Cardinal Blase Cupich at a Chicago event that was dedicated to drawing young people into the church when he made the comments.
"I just always hope that God is a movie fan and also forgiving, because I’ve made some poor choices in my past,” he told the audience, according to the Chicago Tribune - adding "Boogie Nights is up there at the top of the list."
In fairness, if God is a movie fan, we reckon he'd be more interested in repentance for shite like Transformers... priorities, Mark.
