Over the weekend, it was revealed that Carrie Fisher's role in 'Star Wars: Episode IX' would be completed via unused footage rather than CGI or another actress stepping into the role.
Now, her on-screen brother Mark Hamill aka Luke Skywalker has paid tribute to Fisher with a touching tweet.
Hamill called Fisher - who died in December 2016 at the age of 60 - 'simply irreplacable' and said that it was 'bittersweet that I'm facing my final chapter without her'.
See his tweet and the reaction to it below:
It's bittersweet facing my final chapter without her-She is simply irreplaceable. I'm finding solace in the fact that she won't BE replaced & would love the worldwide outpouring of affection from those who loved her when they heard the news.#CarrieOnForever pic.twitter.com/7ueMqBxQwa

A beautiful sentiment Mr. Hamill, I look forward to Episode IX and beyond. It has been a privilege to watch you work magic on the silver screen #CarrieOnForever

You’ll face it surrounded by people who knew her - some almost as long as you, who love and miss her too. Think of all the great Carrie stories that are gonna be told on that set. â?¤ï¸?ðŸ™?ðŸ?» #CarrieOnForever

I got teary-eyed just reading this. Not only because of the heartfelt sentiment expressed, but also the stark inevitability in "my final chapter." Whatever form #StarWars takes next, our journey with Luke Skywalker will soon be coming to a close. What a ride it's been. https://t.co/ZN6rnvj85A

Carrie Fisher didn’t just portray a princess. Leia was a strong warrior who gave orders and fought alongside the guys. She gave my generation a true heroine to grow up with. #CarrieOnForever pic.twitter.com/nEtrvwFLx1
