Disney has at long last found the star it wants to play the titular role of 'The Little Mermaid'.

Earlier in the week, it was announced that Melissa McCarthy is in talks to play Ursula in the live-action reboot of 'The Little Mermaid'.

The project also found its Scuttle and Flounder in Awkwafina ('Crazy Rich Asians', 'Ocean's 8') and 'Room' star Jacob Tremblay, respectively.

Following an "extensive search", Halle Bailey was cast as Ariel.

The 19-year-old singer is part of the musical sister duo Chloe x Halle. Their song, "Be Yourself," featured in the 2019 film 'Little'. They've performed at the Super Bowl and earned a Grammy nomination.

Beyonce mentored the band in the past. Bailey also has various film and TV credits including co-starring alongside Yara Shahidi in 'Grown-ish'.

Bailey has also appeared on Disney Channel's 'Austin & Ally', in Tyler Perry's 'House of Payne' and the 2006 Queen Latifah film 'Last Holiday'.
