There is a massive rumour going around Hollywood that Lethal Weapon 5 is being prepped for production with both Mel Gibson and Danny Glover set to return their roles as the trigger happy LAPD Detectives. For those of you who are currently exhaling a "so what", let me point out that a script has been written by Shane Black, who penned the first film and the downright excellent Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. This is apparently what drew Gibson and Glover back towards their signature roles. Black was not funded by Warner Brothers to pen the script, but instead wrote in on spec, which means there was no studio interference and it was essentially his vision. It’s likely if the film does take place that franchise helmer Richard Donner would return to direct, but we’d love to see Black get a shot behind the camera.
