Irish set romantic comedy Leap Year bowed in America this passing weekend to awful reviews and mediocre box-office. The Amy Adams/Matthew Goode starring flick about a woman who travels to Ireland on a leap year to propose to her boyfriend, took $9.2 million in its first three days.
Avatar was still the unstoppable train atop the charts, as it coined a further $48.5 million in its fourth week, to take its domestic tally north of $429 million. Sherlock Holmes also held strong, coining $16.6 million, bringing it to a not unimpressive $165 million and counting
Only new opener to impress was Daybreakers, which took a decent $15 million; not bad for a film with a budget not far off that. Leap Year could still show strong legs ala P.S. I Love You.
