It looks like both Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are making a serious career-change with news confirming today that both are set to take on the third remake of A Star Is Born.
In a press release issued today, Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, will be joining Bradley Cooper in a remake of the classic story. As well as this, Cooper will also make his directorial debut with the film, something he's been chasing for quite a while according to sources who spoke to Deadline.
Gaga will play the lead role of Esther Blodgett, a young singer who enters into a relationship with a troubled actor who's career on the downward slope. Cooper is set to play the role of Norman Maine, which was played by Kris Kristofferson in the '70s remake with Barbara Streisand.
Lady Gaga will also write and perform new music for the film whilst Cooper will also co-write the script with Will Fetters, who previously adapted Nicholas Sparks' The Best Of Me and The Lucky One.
It's understood Beyonce was originally lined up for the role of Esther Blodgett, but turned down the role which paved the way for Lady Gaga. Production is due to kick off early next year with a release date expected to be slated for late 2017.
