"It's very different. I'm very excited about it."
The only star returning for the whodunnit sequel promises a "very different" experience for fans of the first film from director Rian Johnson.
'Knives Out 2' star Daniel Craig has opened up about the upcoming film, revealing that production has already wrapped on the Benoit Blanc project that will be "different" from the first entry in the series.
Craig, whose final outing as Bond in 'No Time To Die' is currently tearing up the box office across the globe, spoke with Empire recently about his Bond career as well as what we can expect from the sequel film to one of 2019's most profitable cinema releases.
Craig said that the film wrapped production just "weeks ago" in Serbia, adding that he doesn't want to "tempt fate" by saying it will be better than its predecessor, but he did promise it will be "very different": "We've just finished the second one, literally weeks ago. They've just wrapped up in Serbia. Dare I say it’s better? We'll see. I don't want to tempt fate. It's different, and that's the amazing thing. It's still a Benoit Blanc mystery, but it's very different. I'm very excited about it."
Opening up about working with 'Knives Out 2' director Rian Johnson once again, Daniel Craig added: "I'm so lucky to have Rian [Johnson] in my life. He’s such a great writer. That script arrived and I was literally like, 'Are you kidding me?' I couldn't believe that he wanted me to play it. I was going, 'It says Southern accent you went here. Really?’ And he's like, 'Yeah?'"
Craig will be the only returning figure for the sequel, reprising his role as private detective Benoit Blanc. There is quite an incredible cast lined up for the new mystery storyline (which made the film trend on Twitter earlier this year), with Ethan Hawke, Kathryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline and Jessica Henwick all joining the franchise.
Netflix has secured the rights to two future 'Kives Out' sequels, totalling a bill of $450 million. 'Knives Out 2 will be released in 2022.
