With Black Panther heading towards cinemas next month, the promotional campaign for the film is going to kick into overdrive - and it begins with the announcement that Kendrick Lamar is working on a tie-in album for the film itself.
In a statement released to media today, Lamar and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith will curate and produce an album that will feature music in the film and will be inspired by it, with the lead single All The Stars featuring SZA. As well as this, Ryan Coogler is said to be working with Lamar and Top Dawg to create music specific to scenes in the movie, with Lamar praising the film, the cast and Coogler.
"The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I'm truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel's vision." As well as being Marvel's first attempt at a tie-in album with original music, it's also Lamar's first attempt at producing music for a film.
