Katie Holmes will headline the thriller Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, for producer Guillermo del Toro, who also co-wrote the script with Matthew Robbins. The film is based on an old TV movie about a girl and her father who encounter some satanic entities when they move into a new house. The film is being directed by comic book artist Troy Nixey, who directed a short film that del Toro really liked, that he also thought captured the tone of this remake (of sorts) very well. The film will shoot in Melbourne, with Holmes playing the father's girlfriend.
