Oh hai, Justin Timberlake. Defensive much? Well perhaps he's within his rights to be a little peed off. Make up your own mind below.
As per Celebitchy, the hitmaker has gotten his back up somewhat in defense against his nay-saying critics. Not concerned with impressing us with his acting chops, he finds himself disillusioned by all the vitriol coming at him following his performance in Runner Runner.
Unfortunately the movie failed to make waves at the box office, making only $8m on opening weekend in the US. What followed was a serious of pretty nasty features in large publications that read along the lines of 'Why Justin Timberlake should stop acting' (Variety) among others.
In an interview with GQ - in which Justin Timberlake earns not the end of year award for best singer, actor or anything remotely relating to what he does for a living but rather the coveted (?) award for Hashtag of the Year (what?) - Trousersnake hits back at all the haters.
In response to the Variety article, he says "Tell him to leave his second half at home. Where did all this vitriol come from? It's mean. And I'm not cut out for it... The movie didn't do well at the box office, so I should quit? Hold on a second... If I was somebody else, you wouldn't have said that. I have the number one album this week, and I shouldn't have released it? Come on, man. You sound like a dickhead... It just shocked me because, like, you're trade magazines. None of your opinions count. And by the way, none of you can do it."
Timberlake attributes his f*ck-it attitude to his hardy home town, Memphis Tennessee.
"It's a struggling city with a defeatist attitude. I'm from this town, and I grew up with a little bit of a chip on my shoulder, so sometimes I find it funny that I've been able to acquire the patience it takes to be kind to people in our business," he says. "Because sometimes I just want to f–king kill everybody."
Well, that'll teach me never to get on JT's bad side. I think I just about managed to avoid that when I interviewed him earlier this year, for Runner Runner.
