Justin Timberlake is being pursued to star in a planned big screen adaptation of Baywatch, say the folks at Twitchfilm.
The increasingly popular actor would play a "disgraced former Olympic swimmer trying out for the Baywatch crew." Rescue Me producer and writer Peter Tolan penned the script and the tone will be similar to that of the recently successful TV adaptation, 21 Jump Street. That means a comedy with elements of the original series, and not a parody. As nuts as it sounds, it'd probably be a very good role for Timberlake if he went with it; look at what 'Street' did for Channing Tatum - an actor some thought one-note mopey until then. The same article claims that both David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson could have roles if they wanted them.
No word on any possible directors, but a solid name may attract Timberlake if he's unsure.
