Fringe and Dawson's Creek star Joshua Jackson has long been on the cusp of superstardom. Never quite making it despite a wry charisma and a couple of successful TV gigs, he's just bagged a role that should raise his profile significantly.

Variety is reporting that Jackson is in talks to star in the Stephen Frears helmed Lay the Favourite, opposite Rebecca Hall and Bruce Willis. The film is based on Beth Raymer’s bestselling memoir of the same name. The story charts her rise from lowly Vegas cocktail waitress to one of the top sports gambling bookmakers. After falling in love (with Jackson I'm assuming), Raymer soon begins to re-evaluate her life and the profession she has chosen.

It's a bit of a High Fidelity reunion as Frears and one of that films writers, D.V. DeVincentis team up once again. I like the cast a lot and Frears is due another belter.
