'Joker: Folie à Deux' will be released in 2024
It's safe to say that the new 'Joker' film, 'Joker: Folie à Deux' is one of the most highly-anticipated sequels of recent years.
The shoot has been ongoing in New York and LA in recent months, with Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role of Arthur Fleck from the 2019 film, and Lady Gaga in the role of Harley Quinn.
Director Todd Phillips confirmed yesterday that the shoot had officially wrapped - having begun in December - and celebrated by sharing new images of both stars.
"That’s a wrap," he wrote on Instagram. "Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together."
The film is set for release in October 2024 and as well as starring our own Brendan Gleeson - in an as-yet-unknown role - it will also see the return of Zazie Beetz as Sophie Drummond, his former neighbour .
However, very little is known about the actual plot, as Phillips has kept schtum on the details - although many have speculated that it will elaborate upon Fleck's escape from Arkham State Hospital and follow his rise to becoming the Joker, with Quinn - a former psychiatrist who falls in love with him - by his side.
