Johnny Depp's career may or may not be headed for the scrapheap, as the hangover from the very serious allegations about his personal life still hang in the air and over his general person.
However, he still appears to be booking work as Depp has now signed on for an interesting film and when we say interesting, we mean that in the pejorative sense of the word. According to a report in ScreenDaily, Depp will star in LAByrinth, which sees LAPD Detective Russell Poole investigating the two murders of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur.
As well as this, Poole also uncovered consistent and constant corruption in his police department, which led to waves of resignations and scandals in Los Angeles for years to come. The whole thing was briefly touched upon in films like Dark Blue with Kurt Russell and, to a lesser extent, Rampart with Woody Harrelson.
For all his personal troubles, Depp seems to be coming into a period of grace when it comes to his film work. Black Mass was quite warmly received and seen as the comeback role for Depp whilst Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is shaping up quite nicely from early reports.
Whether LAByrinth will continue this hot streak remains to be seen, however it's clear that studios and producers are undeterred by his personal troubles or public persona.
