You can't really have a Star Wars film without John Williams, and it's telling that Michael Giacchino's score for Rogue One definitely had his influence all over it - and, as well as this, Williams' is apparently due to write the main theme for the upcoming Solo spinoff movie as well.
Variety confirmed yesterday that John Williams, who is now 85 years old, will write the soundtrack for Star Wars: Episode IX. This will make it Williams' 145th credit as a composer on a film or TV series, according to IMDb, and will be his ninth time composing a soundtrack for Star Wars.
In a short interview, Williams said that he "would very much like to complete" Episode IX, and talked about how Rian Johnson would eventually love to release a score-only version of The Last Jedi with Williams' music intact. "All of the accompanimental music will be brought forward — every gesture, the music traveling along with the moods and textures, references to characters and so on."
Star Wars: Episode IX hits Irish cinemas on December 20th, 2019.
