It's been a big week for the directors of John Wick.
Over the weekend it was confirmed that, David Leitch, the co-director of Keanu Reeves' 2014 action hit, John Wick would be the man to step into the director's chair for Deadpool 2after Tim Miller departed.
Now it looks like Leitch's John Wick co-director, Chad Stahelski has lined up his next project, a reboot of Highlander.
"I've been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school," Stahelski told The Hollywood Reporter."Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colorful mythology. I can't think of a better property that gives the opportunity to create interesting characters, mythic themes and action set pieces."
The original property Stahelski is referring to of course is the 1986 cult classic starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery. A remake has been in the works for sometime now with Justin Lin attached to direct at one stage before moving on due to the glacial development process.
Stahelski worked as a second unit director for years on blockbusters such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier before making his directorial debut with John Wick alongside Leitch. He's directing the follow up, John Wick: Chapter 2 solo which is scheduled for release in 2017.
The next step for Lionsgate, who own the rights to the reboot is to find some writers for Stahelski to work with.
