Jessica Alba isn't that great an actress, let's be honest. Honey (although admittedly that's a guilty/hungover/sick pleasure of mine), Valentine's Day, The Fantastic Four; there's not a whole lot going on in her back catalogue of films to inspire a budding thespian. But then there was Sin City, a movie in which she danced around in black and white, lassoo in hand and cleavage on display to remind us all that acting chops aren't all that necessary to make an impression. Sad, but true.
Returning once more to the greyscale cityscape, Alba will be back in her cowgirl hat for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Will she wow us with her on screen presence? Yes, but will that be down to the acting or the fact that she's promising a lot more dancing (of the exotic variety) this time round? Unfortunately for Alba, it's probably the latter.
The follow up project from Robert Rodriguez's first Sin City, this one's a prequel. It kicks off before the events of the original where we can expect to see Alba's character Nancy Callahan take to the stage again, setting fanboys' eyes aglow.
Speaking to Vulture, Alba said "I had to learn a bunch of dance sequences for it," says the actress who first caught our attention opposite Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed. "I do a lot more dancing in this one. It was kind of crazy. It was very, very difficult, and you'll see why."
Are you excited to see Alba back in action? Co-starring Josh Brolin, Mickey Rourke and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will open in the US on October 4th. Stay tuned for an official Irish release date.
