Jason Bateman is to team with Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy in the comedy, ID Theft, reports Deadline Hollywood.

McCarthy has apparently written, or re-written a script that originally centred on a man who had his identity stolen - a gender switch has taken place and the main character will now apparently be a woman. So McCarthy will now play the thief, with Bateman's role so far unconfirmed - still the man maybe? The Arrested Development star is coming off of a huge hit in Horrible Bosses, but also had a flop with Ryan Reynolds co-starrer, The Change Up. Bateman will be in Dublin on September 8th for a premiere for the latter.

McCarthy is hot property in Hollywood. Not just off of the back of Bridesmaids, but her sitcom, Mike and Molly is riding high in the charts for US network CBS
