This is fantastic news. I'm a HUGE James Marsden fan. Not only is he HAWT, he's pretty damn good when it comes to comic timing too. Though many of you will no doubt have shied away from Disney's Enchanted, Marsden's turn as the hilarious Prince Edward - opposite Amy Adams' doe-eyed Giselle - was played to perfection. And today, we bring you the news that he's just been cast in Anchorman 2! Hurray! The casting news on this much anticipated sequel really is the gift that keeps on giving, what with Kristin Wiig having also joined the team earlier this year.
Best known for his role as Cyclops in X-Men, Deadline report that the 39-year-old will play rival anchor and arch nemesis to Will Ferrell's Ron Burgundy. Plot details have been hard to come by on Anchorman: The Legend Continues, what with production only beginning to get underway.
Soon enough though, we'll have trailers, on-set shots, and more than enough news to tide us over 'til the movie's release in December.
The thoughts of a James Marsden/Will Ferrell stand off, what with all the ridiculous quotes they can muster, really does excite us greatly. Will they manage to top the peerless jibes we got from the original movie? Lines like "You look like a blueberry", "You are a smelly pirate hooker. Why don't you go back to your home on Whore Island?" and "Well if you were a man, I'd punch you. Punch you right in the mouth"? Here's hoping!
Directed by Adam McKay, you can stick December 20th in your diary for this one.
