Although no new director has been hired and the fallout from James Gunn's shock firing from 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3' is still being felt, the fate of James Gunn's script appears to have firmed up somewhat in the interim.
According to an interview with Sean Gunn - James Gunn's brother, who also played Kraglin in the franchise - has confirmed what many had already hoped and was previously rumoured to be true; namely that Disney still intends to use the original script. While the younger Gunn was still unsure what's happening with the movie, he did add that Disney still intends to make the movie - but just didn't know when it was going to happen.
"I know that they have every intention of using the script that my brother wrote. Obviously, that was a very unfortunate situation for everybody, most of all him, but I am also somebody who had been preparing to spend half a year making that movie and now that's up in the air," Gunn explained.
Previously, Dave Bautista - who plays Drax the Destroyer - was open about his disdain for continuing on without James Gunn behind the camera and said that if they didn't use the script he'd written, he'd consider leaving the movie entirely. As it stands, the whole thing appears to have stalled and nobody's really sure what's happening.
Dave Bautista's already moved on for other projects and the likelihood is that he's not alone in that effort, either. Seeing as the release date has been pushed back for 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3', it'll be interesting to see who takes on the director's seat and where it all lands in the future.
