Tom Holland calmed the actor, telling him to "relax"
"I just put a lot of pressure on [myself] because I love that world."
While on his first day on the Marvel set, Jake Gyllenhaal says he froze up while making his villainous debut as Mysterio on 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'.
The actor, whose breakout role was in 'Donnie Darko' in 2001, described the moment he turned into a "wooden board" while filming a scene with Tom Holland and Samuel L. Jackson in the Marvel/Sony production.
While appearing on 'The Howard Stern Show', Gyllenhaal remembered back to his first day of filming. He said: "I was freaking out. It was a scene with [Samuel L.] Jackson, Tom. There were a number of actors in that scene. And I remember not being able to remember my lines.
"I was the wooden board. And they were like, 'Whoa'. And I went up to Tom Holland and was like, 'Dude, help me out'. He’s like, It’s all good, man. Just relax. It was like he was me in so many situations.
"And I finally did. I just put a lot of pressure on [myself] because I love that world."
Jake Gyllenhaal played Quentin Beck/Mysterio in 'Spider-Man: Far From Home', which sees him befriend Holland's Peter Parker before revealing his true identity as a fraudulent superhero who uses technology to create his superpowers and his elemental adversaries.
Stern touched on a number of Gyllenhaal's back catalogue of movies in his interview with the Hollywood star, whose most recent release is 'The Guilty' on Netflix.
He also spoke about being asked about his sexuality following the release of 'Brokeback Mountain' with the late Heath Ledger; as well as the awkward sex scenes he filmed with Jennifer Aniston in 'The Good Girl'.
